Hobby Store Recycled Denim Yarn is a soft cotton blend yarn crafted from 100% post garment recycled denim and ideal for wearing against the skin.
Hobby Store Recycled Denim Yarn is made entirely from post garment recycled denim that were destined to landfill. Process involves zero use of any dyes or harmful chemicals and done with very little water. So now you have a choice to buy yarns that have a positive impact on the environment!
The color range is narrow and that is done on purpose; we stuck to the original colors of jeans and didn’t apply additional chemical processes by bleaching, dyeing, etc. in different colors. The recycling process gives the yarn a soft matte with slight tweedy finish which adds texture and interest to the finished fabric. It is ideal for wearing against the skin making it perfect for tops, sweaters, cardigans, scarfs, hats, beanies, gloves, handbags and more. This yarn is easy to use and has great stitch definition – you may refer the images of designs we’ve made.

Q & A
Recycled yarn is a sustainable option for textile production because it reduces waste and the consumption of new resources. Here are some of the key factors that contribute to the sustainability of recycled yarn:
Reduces Waste: Recycled yarn is made from pre-consumer or post-consumer waste, such as discarded fabric or plastic bottles, which helps to reduce waste in landfills and oceans.
Reduces Resource Consumption: Making recycled yarn requires fewer resources compared to the production of virgin yarn. For instance, producing recycled polyester yarn consumes 59% less energy and 32% less water than producing virgin polyester.
Decreases Emissions: Recycling waste into yarn reduces the amount of greenhouse gases that would otherwise be emitted from waste decomposition in landfills.
Lower Water Usage: Recycled yarn often requires less water to produce compared to virgin yarn, which can be beneficial in water-scarce areas.
Energy Savings: Recycled yarn can be produced using renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind, which can further reduce the environmental impact of textile production.
Overall, using recycled yarns in textile production can contribute to a more sustainable and circular economy by reducing waste, conserving resources, and lowering emissions.
